Compared with OJ process, GPP process has the following advantages:
A. High electrical performance and reliability;
B. The reverse leakage current is small and the voltage consistency is good;
C. Strong anti-surge and high temperature performance.
At present, there are many processes for making GPP diodes in diode industry.
For example, the mainstream processes include knife scraping GPP process, photoresist GPP process,
electrophoresis GPP process, GPRC process, PIPP process, etc.
Among them, knife scraping GPP process, photoresist GPP process and electrophoretic GPP process
almost occupy more than 90% of the market share of diodes, while these three main processes have some disadvantages:
The sharp corner of the surface of GPP products (commonly known as "bird's beak" in this paper) is not protected by glass,
so it is easy to discharge and ignite in the test. The high-temperature leakage is large and the high-temperature stability is poor;
2. The production cost of photoresist GPP process products is very high,
passivated glass will be higher than a part of the chip table, and it is very easy to be damaged by foreign objects,
especially the chip at the edge of silicon chip is more likely to be damaged in the production process,
the groove occupies a large area, compared with the same chip size in other processes,
the effective welding area is small, and the VF is high.
3. The passivation glass of electrophoretic GPP products is thin, which leads to low voltage resistance and short service life.
